FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship Based on Entrance Scores (excluding students entering through the foreign national or overseas Korean admission phase)
The top 15% of successful Korean candidates are offered a full 4-year scholarship (including the admission fee) based on the total entrance scores. Students need not apply for this scholarship as all successful candidates are considered automatically. Each student is individually notified of the scholarship opportunity before the registration period and students must pay the deposit to finalize admission. The deposit is refunded after admission. Students receiving the scholarships must take at least 12 credits and maintain a GPA level of at least 3.5/4.3 to keep receiving the scholarship.
Scholarships Based on Entrance Scores (only for students entering through the foreign national or overseas Korean admission phase)
The top 20% of successful foreign national candidates are considered for a full 8-semester scholarship (including the admission fee) based on the total entrance scores. The next top 30% of successful foreign national candidates are considered for a full 4-semester scholarship (including the admission fee) based on the total entrance scores. Students need not apply for these scholarships as all successful candidates are considered automatically.
Scholarships Based on Language Test Scores (scores for one's native language cannot be accepted)
Students who have a TOEIC score of 960 points or higher, or an IBT TOEFL score of 116 or higher at the time of application can be exempted from paying the tuition for their first semester (including the admission fee). In addition, students whose native language is not the language in question can receive full scholarship for four semesters starting from their first semester (including the admission fee) if they have HSK Level 6 or higher, JLPT N1 or higher, HSK Advanced Speaking, or TORFL Level 4.
Students receiving a scholarship for a foreign language must take at least 12 credits and maintain a GPA level of at least 3.5/4/3 to keep receiving the scholarship. Receiving a GPA lower than 2.7/4.3 will result in permanent disqualification for the scholarship and receiving a GPA higher than 2.7/4.3 and lower than 3.5/4.3 in the previous semester will result in a suspension of the scholarship in the following semester. Suspended semesters are counted in the total duration of the scholarship.
There are generally two application periods during which students can apply for scholarships based on language test scores. The first application period is before the registration period and students who apply during this period are offered a waiver regarding the tuition for the first semester and the admission fee. The second application period is after the registration period so students who apply during this period will have had to pay the tuition for the first semester and admission fee first and will get a refund later in March. Students receiving a four-semester scholarship for a foreign language will automatically receive a waiver of tuition from the second semester.
The English language score scholarship is a one-time scholarship that is only available to freshman students during the application period for one semester. Students who did not receive an English language score scholarship as freshmen can apply for a similar scholarship offered by the Office of Student Affairs and Services. Through the same logic, the foreign language score scholarship is also a one-time scholarship that students can only apply for as freshman during the application period. Students cannot apply for the scholarship after the application period.
